Care and the Design of a Psychiatric Hospital Environment

Abstract

This pictorial submission presents some initial reflective observations from a project that is exploring transition and transformation that results from the design and build of a new hospital building and the psychiatric facilities in particular. Care is the fundamental guiding principle of this research, of the hospital development and the day to day practices of patients, hospital staff and associated care givers. This is realized as care for the unwell though processes, treatment and environments.
